#GRP2014 Alto Golf Pestana Golf Resort On our arrival at the course the Golf & Ride team were warmly greeted by Suzanne Correia, who introduced our playing partners and offered much needed drinks. The Pestana Alto Golf can be found just on the outskirts of Alvor and Portimao. As the name would suggest the course is set on a plateau from where good views can be enjoyed. The course has many interesting features, a par 3 opening hole, narrow tree lined fairways, back to back par 3 holes on the second nine and what used to be the longest par 5 in Europe. Many of the fairways are undulating which make the landing areas more of a challenge for those who want to blaze away with the driver. Members Bernie Simpson & Karin Aberg joined Tony to play the 18th hole, which at over 500 metres uphill is quite a challenge, especially as the second shot is played to the corner of a dog-leg. The club have a charity bunker located at the front left side of the green which collects many approach shots and subsequently a lot of €1 donations to the Captains chosen charity.
