Gabor Pelva, 33, is the Hungarian Junior Fed Cup captain in charge of coaching Dalma Galfi, Fanni Stollar and Panna Udvardy during this week’s international team competition. In Tuesday’s first day of action, Humgary took a 2-1 win in their tie against Ecuador. Galfi defeated Camila Romero 61 60, but Fanni Stollar fell to Rafaella Bazuerizo 61 63. Galfi and Stollar teamed for a 62 62 doubles win over Bazuerizo and Romero. Pelva joined the Hungarian Tennis Federation just over a year ago after spending 11 years at Auburn University in Alabama. He received an undergraduate and graduate degree in exercize science from the school and stayed on to eventually become the associate head tennis coach. During his playing days at Auburn, he was a two-time all-American and reached the NCAA Championships semifinals, which is the best result of an Auburn player at the NCAA Championships.
