Galatians 6:2-3 Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. As I have previously stated, whenever you see the words therefore, for or because, you need to look at what came just before it. This is true in pretty much anything you read, but the Bible especially because if there is only one book in the world that you truly understand, this should be it. Keeping that in mind, it took me a minute to put together verses two and three. What does bearing each others burdens have to do with thinking too much of yourself? Then, I backed up a verse and it became clear. As we saw yesterday, when a fellow Christian is caught in sin it is our duty to help restore them and that we must do so through love. But, as we all know, this can be one of the most difficult responsibilities that we have. It is much easier to be judgmental and on the attack. You can also get the feeling of, I cant believe that person. I would never do such a thing! Really? Even if you havent committed the exact sin in question, each and every one of us has done something. Remember Romans 3:23? ... all have sinned... And rest assured, that all certainly includes you and me. So never fall into the trap of having too high of an opinion of yourself. Verse one tells us to be careful that we dont fall into the same sin. We all fall. We all sin. Sin is a burden that we all need help to carry. What may be enough to drown you, may be easily lifted with the help of two or three. So be there to help. You could be the next one that needs it. ~Kevin Numbers 6:24-26 Romans 8:38-39
