Galatians 6:2 has a life changing command, Bear ye one anothers burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. The obvious question is, “What law of Christ am I fulfilling when I bear someones burden? Our Lord said in John 13:34, A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; as I have loved you… When we bear one anothers burdens, we not only fulfill the Law of Christ, but, at the same time we are demonstrating the love OF Christ. This means that when we love someone as Christ loved us, we will be bearing their burden. When bearing others burdens, we are loving them with the love of Christ. This not only reveals the love of Christ, but at the same time, it begins to change us into the image of Christ. The more we act like Christ, the more the Holy Spirit transforms us into Christ’s image. This means that we cannot love others with HIS LOVE without bearing other’s burdens. Neither can I bear other’s burdens without loving them with HIS LOVE! God’s plan for each of us is to be transformed into the image of our Lord Jesus. Showing Christs love by bearing others burdens is one way this is done. Christ so loved us that he bore our sins on the cross. What an illustration of love and bearing. If we love others as He loved us, we will gladly share their burdens. This becomes a living testimony as others see the love of Christ at work. The result of this is that our life will be fulfilled and joyful and others are blessed and encouraged. Let us travel the other’s road every day this week and watch what God will do in and through us.
