Gareth Bales agent has revealed that Manchester United offered the Welshman more money to join them in 2013 than current club Real Madrid did. Bale became the worlds most expensive player when he completed his £85m move to Santiago Bernabeu from Tottenham, but Barnett has revealed that the 25-year-old turned down offers from elsewhere - notably Manchester United and Barcelona - to make the move happen. Agent Jonathan Barnett said that while Bale did not want to move to Barcelona, he turned down an offer from Manchester United which was more rewarding financially than what Real put on the table for him. He told AS: He always wanted to play for Madrid. He could have gone to United and other clubs, but he wanted Madrid. I know that at one point Barcelona were also interested in him, but he said he did not want to go there. There were two agents who called me. Asked whether more money was on offer in comparison to Madrid, Barnett replied: Not much more, but…more.
