Garmin 920xt pt 2/2 review... well just in case I didnt bore you enough with the first part, heres the rest of the review now I have gone on a long run and ride... First the run... first thing I noticed was the speed that the Garmin picks up the GPS, basically almost immediate, so your not stuck in the cold waiting for the damn satellite... for the most part the run monitoring is just as good as the 910, but with some really cool new features... first off is the running dynamics analysis, basically measures your cadence, gait, vertical oscillation (how much you bounce up and down) and time you feet stay on the floor... I have been working on my technique with the coach so most of mine came up okay, however it did tell me that I bounce up and down like a pogo stick and there was a direct correlation between my points of slow speed and my technique dropping off... so keeps your form honest.... It does V02 Max estimations to see how much pain you can endure and race predictions, although not sure of the accuracy... 1:22 Half marathon it reckons.. just being nice to get a good review.... On to the bike... basically not much changed from the 910, except the battery life.. the garmin used to be at 30% after a 4hr ride, this one no problem still at 90%... It also picked up the power meter more quickly... but to honest not much diff... V02 max and race predication for that as well... One huge difference is the live tracking.. basically you can email a loved one a link (and post on FB, sorry for that) that will allow anyone to follow you... vain, perhaps.. useful I think... first up safety... if your used to running or riding by yourself then people can keep an eye on you and trace your position.. its also handy for those of you that meet up with the fam after a set or race... they know how far your are from the finishing line... cool.... All up I think the 920 is an excellent piece of kit, well worth an upgrade or initial purchase... and im not sure if im cursing myself but its stable... yes a garmin product that doesnt break because you coughed too loud near it.... Go out and buy one... see Uncle Mat for a spesh!
