Gave a bit of thought before sharing this, but here goes. Many years ago, I was elected Class Procrastinator by my high school class peers. Although it was meant in good fun, the way it was handled made me feel more than a bit crappy about myself. To this day, I sometimes pull out my HS memorabilia and pause when I come to theaward or newspaper article about the awards. Even though Ive enjoyed many successes throughout the years, the feelings, while dull from time, are still there. While I probably deserved it back then (and, honestly, still battle a bit of it even today), Ive tried over the years to become better about my responsibilities. Yesterday, we nominated and elected our class officers. This time went a bit differently than all those years ago. I am proud and honored to serve as DFD EMS Academy #61 Class President. Maybe Im just a late bloomer. And maybe looking through my old HS stuff wont bother me quite so much anymore.
