Gave a presentation to the Army Chief of Staffs Strategic Studies Group (the organization in charge of innovating the future of the military). Here were their responses: Q: What methods would you use to deal with Korea A: You didnt actually read the books did you? We have 90min here, go read the books. Q: It would be really hard to coordinate all the people and divisions to make this work - the Army is too complex to make this work. A: So youre saying that the Army is too complex to be effective? QQ: No no no. Im not saying that. Q: What would you do to resolve the issue in Korea? A: *Facepalm* Q: In your example about the US Civil War, you say that cutting off resources to the South helped win the war for the North, but thats not right. There were many things that contributed to that win. A: Are you saying that the South didnt run out of resources or that this limited their combat capabilities? QQ: No, but there were other things, too. AA: Yes, and I focused in on the resource example because it helped! Thats what the economics book is about! Economics! These are the people who will shape the future of our military. The future of our military looks quite bleak, indeed, people. Weve entrusted our future defensive capabilities to a group of people who are afraid of challenges, lack imagination, are afraid of change, and cant handle simple logic. At this point, Im truly at a loss. These topics are apparently too complicated for our defense industry to grasp, and too dull for an uninterested general population. The answers to many of the worlds problems are really quite simple if you simply take the time to consider them. Ive tried to show how we can end war while simultaneously increasing national defensive capabilities. Ive tried to show how we can resolve our national debt while simultaneously increasing economic growth AND decreasing the socioeconomic disparity. Ive tried to show how we can decrease both crime and drug abuse in one fell swoop. Ive never once had someone argue intelligently, or even say they didnt believe me. It always comes down to two things: People dont care, or they dont understand it. I do get so tired, sometimes. So very tired.
