Gay People Have Gotten Their Rights, Now Polyamorists Want their Own Uncategorized By allchrisiannews After the first national convention of polyamorists inCanada, some of the group now say, that they want the same legal status as provided for in other relationships. Polyamory is often described as being “consensual, ethical, and responsible non-monogamy,” by its supporters and is the practice, desire or acceptance of having more than one intimidate relationship at a time with the knowledge and consent of all parties involved. Marriage was redefined in Canada in 2005 and the Canadian Polyamory Advocacy Association intervened in a major legal case in Canada in 2011 involving polygamy. Now the association wants the same legal rights for polyamorous relationships as with others. Zoe Duff, director of the association, said she wanted to see equality under the law for spouses of polyamory advocates with regards to such things as pensions, property division and inheritances. The association says that they are “queer-friendly” and “live all gender combinations.” A poster promoting polygamy declaring “Love has no gender,” caused quite a stir last year in Canada when it was put up in some schools. The poster depicted various relationships between genders including an image of one man and two women and one woman and two men. The Toronto School Board, who allowed the poster, came under fierce criticism at the time and writer Daphne Bramham said that because the Board was so stupid to allow the poster, they appear to be promoting values that are not normal in our society.
