What is most alarming is that Gunness has also mentioned is that UNRWA has directly given the Israeli army the correct coordinates of those shelters and has urged them to notify them well in advance before targeting them- Israel has not agreed on the latter. According to Gunness, there are 86 shelters housing a total of 219,657 people with each having about 2,500 in them. Horrific conditions. Attacking UN schools used as shelters in Gaza is not a first; in Operation Cast Lead in 2009, Israel attacked a UN school housing displaced Palestinians with white phosphorus.
