Geelani Slams Govt For Alam’s Rearrest, Says “It is State Vs One person” =>Condemning the re-arrest of incarcerated Muslim League Chairman Masrat AlamBhat, Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani Saturday said the government is resorting to political vengeance by targeting him. In a statement issued to Srinagar based news gathering agency Global News Service (GNS), Geelani said there is no moral or constitutional justification of Masrat Alam’s continued detention. “Alam had raised his voice against the state terrorism, so government resorted to political vengeance by puttinghim behind bars,” Geelani in a statement added. Geelani said it is nothing but cowardice act on part of government that the whole State is at war with a single person. “They are keeping him under illegal detention.” The Hurriyat Chairman also urged Amnesty International and other human rights organizations to utilize their good offices for the release of Alam. Meanwhile, Geelani has expressed deep anguish andgrief over the demise of noted cardiologist of Valley Dr. Jalal ud Din. He expressed solidarity and sympathy with the bereaved family and prayed for the deceased.
