Geelani calls for complete 3-day shutdown against Ramban incident. ‘Time has come for India to leave’ SRINAGAR, Kashmir -- Expressing his deep anger and resentment over the unfortunate incident at Gool Ghulab Gadh Ramban, All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani has called for a complete shutdown and valley wide protests on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. In a statement issued to Global News Service, Syed Ali Shah Geelani while demanding strict punishment for those BSF personnel involved in desecration of Holy Qur’an and responsible for killing said, “Though our basic target is the complete withdrawal of armed forces from the State but to prevent incidents like Gool Ghulab Gadh, we demand immediate revocation of all BSF and Army camps from civilian populace and they should be sent back to their barracks”. Terming the incident as worst example of state terrorism Geelani said that India is not only murdering Muslims in Jammu and Kashmir but also is at open war with their religion. “It is totally unbearable and to protest against such incident is obligatory for Muslims as prayers and fasting. Muslims can tolerate everything but to desecrate Qur’an or hurt their religious sentiments is never acceptable at any cost,” Geelani said. Paying glorious tributes to those martyred during protests, the Hurriyat Chairman said that “history repeats itself”. “In 1931, Muslims of Jammu, by protesting against the desecration of Holy Qur’an, laid foundation for the freedom movement in Jammu and Kashmir. Today, after 82 years, these honorable and dignified Muslims again laid their lives by protesting against the shameful incident,” he said. Terming Islam and Qur’an, the source of inspiration for freedom movement of Kashmiris, the Chairman said the Muslims of Jammu have proved that we all are unanimously united against the forced occupation of India. “The Muslims of valley have to, once again prove that we stand together with the Muslims of Jammu at every cost and we will not allow the repeating of “Jammu Muslims’ Massacre” of 1947.” Syed Ali Shah Geelani said that Ramban incident should invoke a new spirit of freedom movement among us and we should send a clear message to News Delhi that it cannot prolong its illegal occupation in Jammu and Kashmir. Meanwhile, Hurriyat Conference leader Raja Merajuddin today led protests against Ramban killings in which hundreds of people participated. Raja, while addressing the protestors said that time has come for the whole State of Jammu and Kashmir to stand united and protest against the state terrorism of India. (GNS)
