Geelani calls for shutdown on 15 August : Sachnews Jammu Kashmir : Srinagar, August 10: While appealing for complete and statewide shutdown on 15th August, chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference Sayed Ali Geelani said that until India is forcibly occupying Jammu & Kashmir, it doesn’t have any moral right to celebrate this day within the boundaries of this state. He said that India itself have struggled and attained the freedom from British and now this country by denying the same right for the people of Kashmir is following the double standards. Geelani sahib said that ‘we do not have any enmity with India or its people and nor we want to separate its any legal part from it’. Jammu & Kashmir was an independent and autonomous state till 1947 and according to the principles and conditions of the partition, we were in no way going to be any part of India, but this country merely on the bases of its military might forcibly occupied this state and snatched the freedom of millions of the people of Kashmir. After that India made commitments with the people of this disputed region on both, national as well as international levels that its people will be given their right to determine their future but she backtracked from her promises. By observing complete shutdown on 15 August, we want to remind the Indian rulers its forgotten promises and we want to send a message across the world that we in no way endorse or accept the forced occupation of India, Spokesman Told Sachnews Jammu Kashmir in a Press Statement.
