Geelani calls for shutdown on Dec 8 over Modi’s visit Manzoor-ul-Hassan Srinagar: Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani Tuesday called for complete shutdown in Kashmir on December 8 against the proposed visit of Indias Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Geelani also appealed people to register evening protests after Magrib prayers against election process and Modi’s visit. “We should convey through our resentment that the elections under the shade of gun can’t deter us from carrying the pro-freedom cause and carrying our mission to its logical conclusion, Hurriyat G spokesman told Rising Kashmir. Until we dont achieve freedom from India, we will boycott elections because India portrays these election as our consent. This wrong image has proved detrimental for our freedom movement, he said, quoting the Hurriyat leader.
