Geelani calls for strike on Saturday against Kounsarnag YatraSrinagar, July 31: Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Chairman of his faction of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), has urged people across Jammu and Kashmir to observe a complete strike on Saturday against the government move to make Kounsarnag as anotheryatra destination.He has also asked people to protestpeacefully after Friday prayers on 1st August against the move.Calling it an attempt to disrupt ecological balance in Kashmir, several civil society members staged a demonstration at Press Enclave in Srinagar last week to protest the proposal to start the Kounsarnag yatra.Save Kounsarnag Front alleged that India was trying to convert Kashmir into another Palestine bycommencing various types of yatras inKashmir round the year.They said people in Kashmir would resist the government move by all means.If the yatra is not banned, they said, people in Kashmir would be left with no alternative but to come out on roads.
