Geesh, that was fun! My phone had no dial tone suddenly. So I log into FIOS self help. They guide me to taking apart the big box thingee that controls the FIOS in the house. Unplug the unit, disconnect the battery back up, wait two minutes, then put it back together. Unplug the main phone line from the jack. Try a different phone (yes, I do have a regular, old-fashioned phone I keep in the closet in case the cordless ones fail), and still no dial tone. Do it all again, and voila ! Dial tone is back, but I have no idea which of the things I did actually fixed the problem...or even what the problem was!
