Geez, I just had a really BAD Day with Mr. Murphy riding shotgun - TopicsExpress

Geez, I just had a really BAD Day with Mr. Murphy riding shotgun the whole way. Started first thing this morning when both dogs slipped away from me and I had to spend 30 minutes chasing them through the neighborhood. Next up, I had to try and drive my new old car for first time which happens to be a 5-speed on the floor. Since it has been quite awhile since I have driven a stick shift, I found myself forgetting little things like the need to depress the clutch before turning on the key and/or forgetting to take off the emergency brake. Thank goodness it is somewhat like riding a bike for each time I finally got moving the rest came back to me pretty quick. Then I headed off to the store to do my school supply shopping. I spent quite awhile picking out all the necessities before heading to the check out. However, my good feeling of task accomplished quickly evaporated when the clerk told me after 3 tries that the schools credit card had been denied. What? Just about every other teacher in the building did their shopping earlier in the week without a glitch but not unlucky me. Now I have to face students Tuesday morning without some of my necessities. Next, I headed to the gas station to fuel up the new old car. About that same time, my dear sister JoAnn called me to chat. Upon hearing that a Speedway stop was very imminent, she pleaded with me to pick her up a French Vanilla cappuccino and a custard-filled donut. Since the new old car does not have a drink holder, I figured that I would get myself a coffee to justify grabbing a cardboard drink holder from the station. After paying for my gas and goodies, I headed back out to the car with my hands loaded with multiple items including my cell phone. Shortly after exiting, my toe caught in a deep crack in the sidewalk which sent me and the goodies flying head first through the air. The only thing I was able to hang onto was my phone and my keys. However, to my very great dismay, my cell phone ended being smashed into the pavement as I caught myself with my hands in order to protect my face. Since the phone was completely totaled, I had to make a side trip to the Verizon store only to find out that since I had neglected to buy insurance, replacing it would cost over $400. Lucky for me, the guy at the Verizon store was able to direct me to Cell Savers in Brighton for a repair job which, though considerably cheaper at $175, still hurt the pocketbook. Extremely thankful that this day is just about over and looking for someone to keep Mr. Murphy company for the rest of the school year. Any takers?
