Gem for Today: The Artists Hand By Ricky Congello, Neomie Congello Ellen G. White, one of the most prolific and inspired authors of all time, penned the famous line, “Nature and revelation alike testify of God’s love” (Steps to Christ, p. 1). These simple words, explaining the character of God, have echoed through the annals of history, as scientific evidence supports His very existence. Through nature God expressed His divine and undying love for mankind. The hills, valleys, and plains all paint a perfect picture of His handiwork. God is an Artist. Even Michelangelo in all his versatility in sculpting, painting, architecture, poetry, and engineering cannot compare to the works of the Creator. All who observe the majesty of the natural world find that our Heavenly Father is a thorough Craftsman and a pondering Artist. Even atheistic scientists have admitted that nature looks surprisingly designed. How perfectly the planets of our solar system are in sync, rotating in their own paths around the sun without colliding with each other! Time is His canvas, life His masterpiece. The psalmist David acknowledged this in the famous verse: “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works” (Psalm 139:14). Though blighted by the curse of sin, the work of the Genius surpasses every effort wrought by human hands. Nonetheless, even as the flower springs up from a crack in the corroding concrete of life, so the light of truth pierces the darkness and shines radiantly into the receptive heart.
