George Lenard, St. Louis attorney, activist and friend who has been deeply involved in the Black Lives Matter demonstrations, posted this video. Im sharing the words with which he prefaced it as I dont believe I can say what needs to be said any better. I encourage my friends to watch, like and share this. Racial bias is not JUST a problem for African Americans and other people of color. For things to change those of us in a position of privilege due simply to the DNA we happened to be born with need to be just as outraged by the inequality as those who are oppressed by it. Here it is. A fantastic presentation of the simple truths driving #blacklivesmatter protests. Im out there with the movement every chance I get because these facts are unacceptable to me. PLEASE, while I dont expect all my many and varied Facebook friends to plunge headlong into the movement, as I have, I do expect you to take a few minutes to watch this short, educational video, and if you find flaws report them here in comments. If you find no such flaws, PLEASE do not just like but like and share. The importance of this information cannot be overstated, and white people have a duty to provoke thought, understanding and action, IMHO. However painful and uncomfortable sharing this information may be, how do you think those feelings compare with those of a black parents fear of losing a child to police violence? Think about it.
