Gerald is barking on about Memoirs of a Murderer by King 810. Howl. I had mixed feelings about King 810 and their violent reputation, he awkwardly queues up Spotify. Without knowing much about them, I decided to do some research, and it became clear that these individuals were a product of Flint, Michigan- one of the most violent places in the US. He sniffs. It was like that for me in the pound. Drama queen. We listen to the album and it becomes very clear that musically, things are very exciting. The guitar riffs verge on the slightly uninspiring generic nu-metal chords, but thats not the point. Geralds Ears prick up. Listen to those vocals.... David Gunn Swans delivery is out of this world. The pure aggression, vulnerability and manic delivery of the front man brings back the eerie and uncomfortable memories of listening to Korns debut album for the first time. The album centers around the bands tortured and violent existence in Flint, and reeks of paranoia, hopelessness and pure dysfunction. Memoirs of a Murderer ca be summed up as eerie and atmospheric. Nothing is glorified and nothing is celebrated. This is not a party album K-Dog. If you want that, go back to listening to Motley Crue Gerald smirks. I imagine the full effect of this album, cackling with creepy footsteps, distant gun-shots and an incredible song Take it sounding like a Nick Cave track with its beat created from the clinking of bullet casings, to be at its best in a dark room and a stiff drink. King 810 have divided Metal Gerald wanders off to have a nibble of his food. They make people uncomfortable, because nothing like this has ever been done. I agree with him, although really he shouldnt talk with his mouthful. This is themed like Hip-Hop, when it was undiluted. When it was raw and frightening. Not everyone will get it, but for me and Gerald- we love it. Memoirs is like watching a horrifying film or documentary. The message is simple- they were born around death, and no matter where they go, they carry the suffering inside them. They are too conditioned by all the failings of their social dysfunctions. A new story is born, and Gerald barks a solid 9 out of 10 and I agree with the little guy. Although it could be debated that this is not a particularly strong Metal album in a general sense, the themes and content resonate with a realness (Gerald cringes as I proclaim this) that is familiar with fans of music with conviction. 9/10. If you would like to recommend an album for us to chew on, let us know and well do our best to howl on about it.... https://youtube/watch?v=zDyqbndd6Oc
