German Moto3: Rins makes it a double with German win By Simon Patterson - MotoGP 14 July 2013 11:10 Texan Moto3 winner Alex Rins has added to his total by taking victory today in Germany to consolidate his hold on third in the championship, ahead of main rivals Luis Salom and Maverick Viñales. Rins led from his pole position for most of the early part of the race, leaving Viñales to fight with Jack Miller and Salom for the final podium positions. However, Miller was soon dropped, and the others closed the gap down to the leader. By half distance, Rins was forced to fight for his lead, swapping places repeatedly with Viñales. Salom, however, was content to watch from third and apparently bide his time. With four laps remaining, Salom made his move, going third to first and immediately pulling out a half second gap. However, a late time trial effort from Rins and Viñales closed it in, and Rins was in place on the last lap to make the move for the win. Miguel Olivera was fourth and Efren Vazquez sixth, split by Alex Marquez, after another strong performance from the Mahindra team, while early podium contender Miller fell back to seventh, the first Honda. The top eight was rounded out by home rider Jonas Folger. John McPhee was back in 24th after an early trip to the gravel trap. Sunday’s result sees Salom retain his championship lead, with Viñales remaining second. Race winner Rins has now moved closer to second place overall as 30 points cover the top three. motorcyclenews/MCN/sport/sportresults/MotoGP/2013/July/jul1313-german-moto3-race/
