Get Involved In An Exclusive Project Honouring The Legacy Of One Of Manchester Uniteds Own- Legendary Utd Captain Dennis Viollet So Rachel Viollet, Dennis daughter, is in the final stage of producing a documentary about her father and she recently launched a post-production fundraiser to help finish the film. Dennis Viollet is a former club captain and when you see the trailer of the upcoming documentary produced and written by his daughter Rachel you cannot fail to be moved by the story and the sheer brilliance of a true Manchester United legend. Viollet was a striker who turned bad balls into good balls and scored goals out of nothing and as you will see in the trailer for the film he has the respect of the cream of his peers from the higher echelons of the football world. Dennis, one of the original Busby Babes was a mega- prolific marksmen - he scored 178 goals in 291 games for United and then surprisingly was sold to Stoke City, playing a number of successful years before moving to the USA where he had a brief playing career before moving into coaching where he enjoyed success with a number of teams before his untimely tragic death in 1999 in his then adopted home of Jacksonville, Florida. To put Viollets irresistible brilliance into perspective consider the amazing array of strikers and forwards to have played for Man United over the past 50 odd years, from the current day with the likes of Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo to the prolific Brian McClair of the 80s and 90s to the amazing Dutch duo of Ruud Van Nistlerooy and Robin van Persie to the classic strike partnership of Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole not forgetting the legendary George Best, Bobby Charlton and Denis Law plus the sheer brilliance of the unique talent of Eric Cantona yet despite this exclusive company Viollet, after recovering from severe head injuries and trauma he suffered in the terrible Munich air disaster, demonstrated his irrepressible talent and class in the 1959–60 season by banging in 32 goals in 36 games - a club record which he still holds today despite all the undeniable talent previously mentioned - the man was clearly a master of his trade. He did go on to win two caps for England but surely his talent deserved more but for the other quality players around in his era.
