Get an education on what is relevant with the times. A person who is educated about the aspects of a black & white TV is still an educated person but is useless in this day & age because you would need an education about LED & 3D TVs if you were to be successful in that field. Just an example. The World is heading toward a performance based economy. If you dont believe me then believe Eric Worre, Donald Trump, Warren Buffet, Forbes & The Wall Street Journal. This means that general salaries are going to be reduced. A person clocking in at 9 and leaving at 5 earning 50k a month will soon earn an income of like 25k a month & the business will offer that person incentives or bonuses so that they can go back up to earning 50k a month. The company benefits because they are spending less on salaries (1). And (2) if people want to earn what they were earning before, they will have to work harder than they were before... Meaning (3) the business becomes more productive & thus more profitable. There will be no where to hide, if you dont add value or if the company doesnt perceive you to add value to them youll be gone. Degree or no Degree. Ask around, its happening. Whats even worse is that us as South Africans face so much corruption from our government. All our tax money goes into initiatives that we never really actually see or feel the benefit of.
