Get off the PC train. There is nothing offensive about using the word negro as an accurate descriptor of skin complexion unless you are ignorant to the usage of the English language. Negro was not developed to subjugate or discriminate the black slave population, but was used as a descriptor. Later, it became synonymous with uneducated, simple-minded, and ignorant, since that is simply what many of the black slaves were. Does that mean that the word cannot be used in a non-offensive manner, as a descriptor to accurately identify an individual? We call the Germans, German, yet they dont call themselves that, and for many decades, German became synonymous with enemy, and has often been used in a derogatory manner. But most people dont use it in a derogatory manner, and I dont hear the Germans asking for anyone to stop using the word.
