Get to know Hobart Ocean drummer Sweden native Matthias Hagström! Matthias Hagström, 21 years old, grew up in a small town in Sweden called Mellerud. He would tell you that he comes from a very musicial family. He received his first drumkit when he was 6 years old. At the time he also learned how to play the violin. He started joining bands right at the age of 14 and many took notice upon his talents. In 2007, during high school he made it a point to concentrate in music with drums as his main instrument. He also started playing the piano that same year. Not long after he decided that in order to pursue his dreams further he would need to travel. His first destination was Los Angeles. Having never been to Los Angeles he decided that school would be the best first step for him. He enrolled himself in the Musicians Institute in October of 2013. A month later he had heard about this band in the making. The band was in search of hiring a part time drummer. He heard his calling and auditioned. The band’s lead singer, lead guitarist, and bass guitarist were so impressed with his skills that instead of hiring him they invited him to join the band. Several months later Hobart Ocean was born with Matthias Hagström as their drummer. Share his story!
