Getting started with your WordPress blog? Or Trying To Find New - TopicsExpress

Getting started with your WordPress blog? Or Trying To Find New Clothing For Your Site? Its absolutely impossible to give carte blanc generalized theme recommendations for what would be perfect in XYZ niche. However, what I can tell you is that there are certainly great places to start that will either (a) teach you more about what you WANT in a theme so you know what to look for in your next one or (b) give you that PLUS give you a solid platform that a developer can turn into gold for you when youre ready to hire someone. For those needing a free solution, starting with Weaver II gives you a TON of flexibility, a ton of ways you can change the theme to fit your needs, without excessive coding knowledge. The flexibility can really help you identify what you do and dont like while not having you locked in an inflexible theme: https://wordpress.org/themes/weaver-ii (When I do website setup packages, this is one of the themes I include for clients - as well as the one below if they are on an advanced setup package - because I know they can do well with it.) For those needing flexibility - but also wanting a theme stack that will grow with them - the best combo on the market at the moment is Genesis - plus - the child theme called Dynamik - or any other Genesis child them - plus - the Genesis Extender (which is Dynamik in plugin form). That stack right there can be a little more zomg-so-many-moving-parts than Weaver, but it will also give you the best-in-the-market foundation, with a lot of ability to change settings w/o too much coding (via Dynamik/extender), and it will give you the ability to have a developer/coder do their magic and change it into the perfectly branded site for you when you are ready. just-ask-kim/recommends/genesis (aff) just-ask-kim/recommends/dynamik (aff) The list of reasons to love Genesis is long and strong - but Dynamic/Extender gives it some ease of use that it really benefits from. Regardless of what theme you pick - remember that changing website themes is just like playing dress-up Barbie... you can change themes every day if you want too (I dont recommend this as it will annoy your visitors!) but your content is safe and protected because themes do not alter the content - they only alter how the content LOOKS. Relax and have some fun with your theme selection. If you wind up with one you dont care for - you can always find another! Dont think you have to have the perfect one to get started. Get started now and tweak and adjust things over time. ~ Kim ~
