Getting to the Carcoar Cup Running Festival turned into an - TopicsExpress

Getting to the Carcoar Cup Running Festival turned into an adventure today..... We left the Central Coast at 6am heading for Blayney and stopped at the Botanic Gardens for breakfast. We got there at 8:30 and drove through the open gates and up into the gardens. All was well until we tried to leave and learnt that the gates were now locked & wed inadvertently snuck in while they were still closed. We had to wait by the gate until a confused employee showing up for work set us free. Lunch at Blayney & picking up my race pack all went smoothly. We headed out of Carcoar on a driving tour of the course. A mix of dirt & bitumen road later wed driven the course and left Carcoar headed for the dam where wed be camping. Just as we pulled onto the hwy the car started to make a bad sound and pulling over we found that one of the tyres was completely flat. It wasnt really safe to change the tyre where we were so the NRMA was called and I now have a car with a space saver tyre (max 80km/h - 300kms) attached and no tyre places this side of the Blue Mountains open tomorrow. Its really not feasible to drive home on this tyre so, so far it looks like well be spending an extra night here unless someone has a full sized Mazda 3 tyre somewhere near Carcoar or Mazda wants to sponsor a semi-decent trail runner and can drop a tyre of at Carcoar tomorrow. The adventure continues tomorrow morning when I run a road marathon on a tyre puncturing course!!
