Ghana: Namibia delegation visits National Service Scheme farms A delegation from the National Youth Service of Namibia has appealed to the National Service Scheme (NSS) to develop small units of plots for National Service Personnel (NSP)working on NSS farms in order that they would be responsible. Mr Charles Kabayane, Board Member of Namibian Youth Service and Leader of the delegation, said small units of plots given to the personnel to cultivate would encourage them go into agriculture. Mr Kabayane made the suggestion when he visited NSS farms at Dawhenya and Nungua. He said he was impressed with what he had seen and commended the NSS and the NSP for the good work. “I am very impressed with what we’ve seen here, especially with the slaughtering and selling of meat and I think is a wakeup call to Namibian to gore into that in future. We will venture into wild animals in future, because apart from cattle farming we are not into any animal rearing activities,’’ Mr Kabanaye said. Nana Odiasempa Antwi Obagyei II, Greater Accra Regional Director for NSS, pledged to support NSS by providing NSP’s with additional skills that would still benefit them after their service. “We will add value to what we produce here, so that the NSP can learn, develop and take their knowledge far as a lifelong enterprise’’ he added. The Namibian delegation is in Ghana on a five-day working visit to share working experience, learn how the Ghana National Service Scheme operates and its achievements. (GNA)
