Ghar Day #12, Song #34 This is one of the best Homecoming - TopicsExpress

Ghar Day #12, Song #34 This is one of the best Homecoming songs ever made. In April 1973 it reached #1 position in Billboard Hot 100 and stayed at #1 position for four weeks. It made the music group Dawn and particularly Tony Orlando very famous indeed. The song is told from the point of view of a prisoner who has completed his three-year sentence but is uncertain if he will be welcomed home. He writes to his love, asking her to tie a yellow ribbon around the ole oak tree in front of the house (which the bus, bringing him home from prison, will pass by) if she wants him to return to her life; if he does not see such a ribbon, he will remain on the bus (taking that to mean he is unwelcome). He asks the bus driver to check, fearful of not seeing anything. To his amazement, the entire bus cheers the response – there are 100 yellow ribbons around the tree, a sign he is very much welcome. Please enjoy: Tie a yellow ribbon round the ole oak tree.... Im comin home, Ive done my time Now Ive got to know what is and isnt mine If you received my letter tellin you Id soon be free Then youll know just what to do if you still want me If you still want me CHORUS: Tie a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree Its been three long years Do you still want me? If I dont see a ribbon round the old oak tree Ill stay on the bus Forget about us Put the blame on me If I dont see a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree Bus driver, please look for me Cause I couldnt bear to see what I might see Im really still in prison, and my love she holds the key A simple yellow ribbons what I need to set me free I wrote and told her this: REPEAT CHORUS Now the whole damn bus is cheering And I cant believe I see A hundred yellow ribbons round the old oak tree Im comin home https://youtube/watch?v=7NCZ4l8FCFc
