Giant Killer Rabbits Ridding Everglades of Pythons Reporter: Pye Thon, Swamp News Everglades biologists are relieved to discover that giant killer rabbits are helping to eradicate exotic pythons in Everglades National Park. Project Bugs is an aggressive campaign to populate as many large bunnies as the Glades ecosystems can handle,, said Park spokesman Bill Karret. Our only concern is the volume and speed with which the giant thumpers eat up everything in sight thats green. Of course, the pythons hiding in the rabbits swampy diet also get consumed. Karret says he realizes this is a drastic reaction to the python problem but adds the park service has no choice. Its giant bunnies or giant snakes, said Karret. At least well be able to plant new vegetation in rabbit-infested areas.
