Girls Varsity Basketball is looking to have a strong season this year! Here is a preview of their team! Girls Varsity Basketball Preview By Keith Rubenstein Girls Varsity Basketball is back! The Lions had a strong and successful season last year. They finished second place in the league and lost in the finals of their league playoffs to a strong Trevor Day team. This year, the Lions will be without six of last year’s players, including Carly Doyle who had a phenomenal season. She finished her strong career off by reaching 1000 points and leading the Lions into the playoffs. In addition, the Lions won’t have Ella Rubin or Lucy Rubin. They were key contributors to the Lions success and knocked down threes whenever they were in the game. It will be hard for the Lions to replace these key players, but they will look to do so with six new players joining the squad in Gabby Mitnik, Kaleah Mchawi, Kate Rosenfeld, Hayley Schwartz, Tessa Wayne, and Dakota Feldman. Tessa Wayne is a seventh grader who will have a big role on this team. They all have some big shoes to fill, but they are capable of getting the job done.
