Gita 4.18. . .(12) Verse 4.18 contains a paradoxical statement; but many logical paradoxes are resolved by the logic of daily life; actual life breaks through all these paradoxes. So, this particular statement affirms: One who sees inaction in action and action in inaction, he or she is the most intelligent of human beings, a true yogi, and doer of all action. We can understand the Gita better after studying Vivekananda literature once. That is what I did, and that is what I saw how effective it is. Having spoken about this truth that, when the mind is properly disciplined, and if there is perfect detachment of mind, then working will be as good as non-working, it will mean relaxation. In work itself you find relaxation. This is a profound message to men and women in the modern age. We had learned in the twentieth century to associate all work with drudgery, and to seek pleasure outside work; that is an evil attitude. We should overcome it. There is joy in work also. When you put your soul in your work and feel a sense of detachment, so far as the lower ego is concerned, you discover the truth of it. But because of this wrong attitude that work is a drudgery, today there is an experience of boredom among people while working. Source: Universal Message of the Bhagavad-Gita, Pub.
