Glad to start the week - receiving from a colleague at EastWest Bank, P8,000 for our Typhoon Ruby relief efforts. First donation after our meeting last Saturday, 13 December. Eastern Samar Typhoon Ruby Volunteers Coordination Meeting 13 Dec 2014, DZME Office, Ortigas Key Discussion Points and Action Plans While the government is doing its best to provide the needs of those affected by #EasternSamarRuby, assessment and feedback from the ground require urgent action to seek help for FOOD and SHELTER. We only realized the massive devastation when telecommunications were restored. We were complacent and at worst indifferent because based on the news, there were less casualties compared to Yolanda and the impact of the #EasternSamarRuby was much less destructive. However, FOOD and SHELTER specially to those in the UPSTREAM BARANGAYS are of the same utmost concern. Action Plans: 1. Intensify info campaign on real situation in affected towns/barangays 2. Renew partnership with the Diocese of Borongan and link with other NGOs for relief ops 3. Initiate fundraising and encourage cash donations so that purchase of relief goods and construction materials will be in nearby towns to save on transpo cost and revive economic activity in Eastern Samar
