#GlobalFusionPlaylist #WhatsGoingOn Where are the artists of today using their voice and music as a weapon… As Nina Simone said An artist’s duty is to reflect the times. I think that is true of painters, sculptors, poets, musicians. As far as I am concerned it’s their choice ..I choose to reflect the times & the situations in which I find myself.. that to me is my duty..At this crucial time in our lives ,when everything is so desperate, when everyday is a matter of survival- I don’t think you can help but be involved. Young people -Black and White know this, that’s why they’re so involved in politics. We will shape and mold this country or it will not be molded and shaped at all -anymore. I don’t think you have a choice. How can you be an artist & not reflect the times? That to me is the definition of an artist… The first Marvin Gaye album credited as being produced by the artist himself, What’s Going On is a unified concept album consisting of nine songs, most of which lead into the next. It has also been categorized as a song cycle; the album ends on a reprise of the album’s opening theme. The album is told from the point of view of a Vietnam War veteran returning to the country he had been fighting for, and seeing nothing but injustice, suffering and hatred. - See more at: globalfusionproductions/global-sound-system/global-fusion-playlist-whats-going-on-by-marvin-gaye/#sthash.54Idbx6r.dpuf
