Globally we have the technology that could reduce the need to work greatly, and if applied in a liberating fashion could give all people a decent standard of living. This requires that we own and use technology socially. At the moment the products of work are privately appropriated even though it is socially produced. This is the contradiction we must overcome to deal with the challenges facing humanity.
