Gloi training update: The heat made me stop training regularly, but now that we’ve been back at it, he is moving along quickly in his training. As of tonight: • I can halter and lead him, gives readily to mild pressure. He has never resisted pressure, so we need to work through this one. Someday, somewhere, he will pull back. • I can brush him all over, brush his mane and forelock, and all the mats are out. Brushed his tail a little bit. • I can pick up his front feet. I can touch his back feet- haven’t tried to pick them up. • He walked around the corral while I led him, with a big white bath towel over his back. I wore the towel over my head for a bit, used it as a cape and other stuff, and he didnt care • Not afraid of shedding blade or sweat scraper going over him • Walked over a black plastic sheeting- all wadded up. Didn’t leave when I jumped all over it, followed me over it. Watched while I waved it around. Didn’t seem too worried. • Not afraid of traffic cone • Let me stick my fingers in the corners of his mouth, lift his lips and look at his teeth • Pinching his neck for shots • Put the fly mask on him tonight for the first time I feel such an incredible bond with this horse. He seems to trust me, so the very first time I ask him to do something, he just does it. Wow. I am so lucky to have him.
