Go Donald! Sterling and his wife, Shelly, are not estranged as - TopicsExpress

Go Donald! Sterling and his wife, Shelly, are not estranged as she has said. Significant evidence exists in the public record and otherwise that Mr. and Mrs. Sterling are not in any sense estranged, the report says, according to the Times, adding they are inextricably intertwined, despite their claims. The report details how the two attended most Clippers home games this season, were spotted together at the All-Star Game, and spent two days together immediately after the controversial recording went public. In case youre wondering why this story fascinates me so, its because of the business as usual attitude about it. The complete and utter hypocrisy. I find it to be a GREAT example of the world we live in. The lies we tell (and accept) in order to go about business as usual. We overlook things until their is some feigned public outcry. But we cant wait to get back to business as usual because of our inability to ask ourselves the tough questions. Everyone is Donald Sterling to one degree or another. And everyone is an enabler of a Donald Sterling to one degree or another. In the case of the NBA they waited until AFTER the Clippers were done making money to announce that they will vote on something in - oh, let say - another two WEEKS. I dont suspect this vote will expedite anything except continued pageantry. This is going to be a big legal matter. But what that highlights is that it will be business as usual and everyone is supposed to be patient. Truth is the more I think about it the more I stand by my FIRST assertion. You cant take property from someone because you dont like what they think. So the final action was on the players and employees. It was their choice and theirs alone to stop making money for Sterling and to devalue his property. Its common sense and no two ways about it. The league is going to have a VERY hard time convincing a court that you can take property because of something someone said in private - a sentiment shared by a lot of people in a lot of positions. David Stern had FAR MORE legal reasons to oust sterling YEARS ago. And he chose not to because its business as usual. Rivers and the players pretended that Shelly was innocent and pretended to be oblivious to ALL the reports of her transgressions because - well, it was business as usual. Magic Johnson IS no saint. Sterling is 100% correct there. The same way scorn was aimed at Russell Simmons and the predatory lenders he endorsed that target minorities and poor people isnt aimed at Magic. Why? What makes Magic different than Sterling? What makes Jordan different than Sterling? What makes the NBA different than Sterling? Nike, Gatorade, Adidas, Reebok and so on? None of the parties involved are saints. And the many related issues that are overlooked and the tough questions being avoided are what makes this American Saga so fun to watch. I want this in court for 700 years. I want to give Sterling ALL my spare organs so that he lives to fight this forever. Because apparently it will take humanity THAT long to even scratch the surface of evolving towards some sense of equity. Live long and live strong, Donald. I support you 190%. A bunch of wealth people arguing and pointing fingers regarding who is meaner is absurd. What HAS Magic done? What HAS the NBA done? What have all these wealthy people done in an actionable way to impress upon the lives of those that support them? More importantly what are their business endeavors and practices doing to their communities and others around the world? Tough questions. And since its business as usual no one is willing to ask or answer them. Lets get upset. Wait. And now lets go back to business as usual having only plugged one hole in the dam. This is not progress. This is insanity. I like watching.
