God Looks to the Heart (2 Chronicles 16:9a) As we study to different translation of our text today found in the Book of Second Chronicles the sixteenth chapter and verses nine, we will discover to whom God will show Himself strong and what He is looking for. For the eyes of the Lord go this way and that, through all the earth, letting it be seen that he is the strong support of those whose hearts are true to him.. (BBE) For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him.. (NET) For the eyes of Jehovah run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.. (ASV) Certainly a the Lord watches the whole earth carefully b and is ready to strengthen those who are devoted to him.. Kaya ito iyong apat na saliatng ginamit; hearts are true, blameless, perfect and devoted. Kailangan mayroon tayong pusong totoo, walang kapintasan, ganap, at deboto. Jesus Himself also told us in the Gospel of Matthew in his Sermon on the Mount, Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see Go. But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees:man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart. (1 Samuel 16:7) Apostle Paul also wrote in Colossians; Bondservants, obey in everything those who are your earthly masters, not by way of eye- service, as people- pleasers, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. For the wrongdoer will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no partiality. But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth. “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
