God brings people into our lives for seasons and reasons. One reason is to disciple or mentor. To spur each other to growth. To fulfill the friendship needs. To exhort. To bless. Bur what happens when it is time for the friendship to end? You have to release them. It might not be your season anymore. Sometimes they refuse to leave sin. Sometimes they need the variety of a different emphasis of teaching. Sometimes familiarity has bred disrespect. Relationships accept the Holy Spirit will forbid you from solving problems from some people—Jesus has both a reason and a season. Don’t try to keep something the Spirit didn’t give. You are no ones Holy Spirit and no one is yours.
