God is an ever present help in times of trouble The bible declares God to be Righteous and Faithful, full of love and compassion and an ever present help in times of trouble yet we find ourselves experiencing long periods of loneliness and doubt where it seems God has distanced Himself from us and for no apparent reason. If the bible declares God to be the same yesterday today and forever then His attributes must never be brought into question. No child of God should expect consistency from God if he himself is inconsistent in his doings where wavering faith and allegiance causes him to swing like a pendulum from faith to fear. God is righteous in that He has made us righteous. He is faithful in that His love is consistent. In times of trouble not leading to death He is faithful to teach us lifes lessons by allowing us to go through pain and embarrassment that we might know not to return there like a dog returning to its own vomit. There is one thing that separates us from God and that is sin, especially wilful sin when God has said to do a particular thing and we choose to disobey. There is a distinction between right and wrong we can not as children of God deny because God has shown us what is good and what He requires of us. Continued wilful sinning frustrates the work of the Holy Spirit to the point where for a moment in eternity He will let us go until we come to our senses and repent. The real horror for Jesus at Calvary was separation from God. No one knows the horrific consequences of sin more than Jesus it wasnt in the lashings and beatings He bore but the second death experience of separation from God from whom comes life. We must be ever mindful of the great gift of life God has granted us to serve Him. John 1:9 says if we confess our sins God is faithful to forgive us our sin and cleans us of all unrighteousness. Draw near to God with a repentant heart and He will draw near to you. This word is just as much for me as it maybe for anyone reading. We all know where we are spiritually mentally and morally and we all know God knows. God be faithful and rise above you with healing in His wings. God make His face to shine upon you and restore you to light and love in the Holy Ghost.
