God is my Refuge and my Strength, He is MY Very Present Help in the time of trouble. I have been reflecting over my life and I cant help but think about how good God has been to me - and when I think of how He has used me in ministry in the African Methodist Episcopal Church for the past 31 years I cannot stop the tears. When I started preaching in 1978 I was a member of a denomination that did not believe women were called to preach Gods Word so I was hurt over and over again, however I knew that I knew that I knew - therefore I refused to take down - then in 1983 the African Methodist Episcopal Church opened her doors via a Presiding Elder and a Pastor who are now, both dead. (To God be the Glory!) I was welcomed into the Augusta Cnference by Bishop Frederick H. Talbot, reobligated as an ordained Itinerant Deacon and there began my ministry as an Itinerant Preacher in African Methodism-from Pastor to Presiding Elder. I have been faithful and God has blessed me to hold a number of positions never held by women before. I love this Zion. I had to retire due to issues with my back however God moved on the hearts of my Bishop, Bishop Preston Warren Williams, II and Presiding Elder Bertram Smith and I have been allowed to Supply New Zion Hill. The people are absolutely wonderful!! God is moving and the Church is growing. If there is anyone out there who knows that God has called you into a ministry - dont give up regardless of how many obstacles are placed in your way - remember, Jesus has informed us that He was persecuted more than any and before we were - so hold on - God has you. Use every obstacle as a climbing block and tell the enemies Thank You. Because as long as you are called according to Gods purpose and as long as you love the Lord everything will work to your good. Just thought I needed to say this for someone, I dont know who. I love you FBFand F.
