God is not easily found. For some reason He is often illusive. Consider Jeremiah 29:13 and Matt 13:44 (treasure hidden in a field). We often focus on the fact that the man sold all he had to buy the field and miss the fact that the treasure was hidden. It seems God desires to be chased and sought after. Yet the cares of this life distract our attention from the chase. They divide our hearts so that it is so hard to seek after God and love Him as He desires. That is why so many will profess to have found God in those times in their lives when everything else was stripped away. When they have been diagnosed with a terminal disease, or lost their job and everything else. Maybe that is why He will sometimes turn our world upside down – because that is the time we seek Him with the most passion. When we are desperate we seek Him with all of our heart like it says in Jeremiah 29:13.
