God is reminding me that it takes more effort to plan to sin, and live happily with the consequences, than to plan to praise and worship Jehovah Yahweh. God reminded me about the sin of lust in David: he got tempted, not by seeing Uriahs wife naked while bathing, but he chose to keep his eyes and mind on alluring image of the womans beautiful body. Sinning is not an event; its a process. That is why David, despite having many wives, found himself not satisfied; he called for Bathsheba and slept with her. Remember, Bathsheda was very beautiful, but the real strength of temptation does not lie in the quality of tempting object, but in the state of heart and mind of the one being tempted. Joseph fled the temptation, and Potiphars wife was also too beautiful to resist! Now, David got Uriahs wife pregnant. OMG, what does David do? David was not thinking; he acted on feeling and impulse. So, he devised a strategy - to bring Uriah home, amidst intense war, to sleep with his wife so that the pregnancy was to be seen as his. Sin begets sin; when Uriah refused to sleep with his wife, David decided to make him drunk, hoping Uriah would change his mind and sleep with his wife. It didnt work. So, what next? David thought of killing Uriah... And he indeed sent him to the battle front and had him killed. If not immediately confronted, one sin can take a wretched course. Satan will never stop tempting us...
