God says:. Psalms 12:6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Psalms 12:7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. Bruce says Concerning translations and the word of God always come to the end. Faith. Man does not believe God can get his word uncorrupt. Man believes man will figure out everything including God. yet man polutes everything he touches. If God cannot get me his perfect word then how can he hold me accountable to keep it and how can I trust him to get me home. Yes every Bible is/would be perverted unless God was involved. Ergo the AV. Read Elisha Wiesman.....SILLY ASSUMPTIONS KJV CRITICS MAKE ABOUT KJVO Here a few silly assumptions that critics of the KJVO position make: 1) 1611 or 1769? We KNOW there are different EDITIONS (but not different VERSIONS) and have answered this question umpteen million times. So dont ask the question after you spent an hour listening to a James White broadcast, and then succumb to the temptation of posting it in a group of KJVO believers as if we are unaware of this. 2) The KJV language is archaic. Really? So is that Greek New Testament you use to correct the English. Try a little harder to come up with something we havent already heard and answered. Never ceases to amaze me how critics of the Biblical English correct an archaic word by using another language that is 1600 years older than the language they are complaining about, and takes 4 years of seminary training to even begin to understand. 3) Where was the Bible before 1611? Why are KJVOs the only ones that have to answer that question? Where was the Bible before 1881 if you are a critical text adherent and think that Codex Simonides (to quote Steven Avery) I mean...Sinaiticus is the oldest mss, and the subsequent changes...I mean..improvements made on it by Westcott & Hort represented the most accurate Bible in history, then how on earth did the church keep it together for 1800 years? If there never was a 1611, critics would still have to answer that question. Since there was no whole and complete commonly used Bible until at LEAST the 14th century, good luck finding where THE Bible was before 1611 since it was scattered. But please, stop asking this question as if youve discovered the bomb that blows up the KJVO position. Been there, heard that, got the t-shirt. 4) Scrivener disagrees with KJVO, and there are several KJVOs that disagree with each other. This is a favorite tactic of Bible Agnostics like James White and Rick Norris. Compile a list of quotes where KJVOs have different opinions as if the differences of opinions somehow eliminates the fact that God preserved His word and providentially guided the translators. Did Jesus die on Wednesday or did He die on Friday? Theres may who disagree on that, but neither opinion changes the fact that He died and rose again. KJVOs do not disagree on the essentials of preservation and inspiration of the KJV. Whereas modern translation logic would be that someone took Jesus place on the cross, and the real Jesus was hid somewhere. Thats what modern translations do is rely on a completely different set of facts and manuscripts that lead to a completely different kind of bible. 5) You KJVOs believe in double-inspiration and that God breathed the KJV like He did the originals. Since manuscripts were scattered due to persecution, they had to be gathered and collated before translation was possible. But sometimes only variants were available, verses may have been unreadable, and therefore we believe that where the Greek or Hebrew failed to supply the necessary part of a passage, that Gods photographic memory of His own exemplar supplied the lack, and thats why we believe the English corrects the Greek, because there ARE NO original manuscripts and no THE Greek, and every complete Greek text was collated just like the English Bible, and since those Greek texts never went through the same process the English did, the Greek can often be WRONG. Since English is not only the dominant language of the world, but the standard in which we measure time and location (all time and location are determined from Greenwich, England), is it really that far-fetched to believe that God would provide the accuracy necessary for the English Bible when the previous language has been dumped? Inspiration was never intended to mean that only the original writing of the author was God breathed. Jeremiah produced an exact copy of the original that was destroyed by King Jehoikim (Jeremiah 36). So was Jeremiahs new copy not inspired because it wasnt the original? When John wrote to the 7 churches in Asia in Revelation 1:11, which copy was the inspired copy? the first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, or seventh? And yet Paul said all Scripture is given by inspiration of God BEFORE Revelation was written. Thus if Revelation is inspired Scripture, then Pauls quotes show that writings written IN THE FUTURE were covered under inspiration, as well as the COPIES that Timothy had known since he was a child (2 Tim 3:15). When a ruler sat on the throne of his kingdom, he was expected to write a copy of the law of out of an exemplar maintained by the Levites. Deuteronomy 17:18. Copies like this were found by men like Nehemiah, and were considered THE LAW (Nehemiah 8:1, see also 2 Chronicles 34:14-15). There are many more specific and detailed arguments I could add to this but I wanted to keep it short and sweet. Bottom line is there are many believers that have thoroughly studied these issues, and have done so for several years. Some study this issue almost exclusively far more than the so-called scholars teaching in the seminaries. So weve heard all of your accusations before, and they are nothing new under the sun. So if you cant come up with something original, my suggestion is either shut up, or go get a King James Bible, and start living like you believe that God kept His promise to preserve His word, and that you have a copy of it in your hands.
