Gods Not Dead...Coming Spring, 2014 I can definitely appreciate Kevin Sorbos role as Atheist Philosophy Professor in the new movie Gods Not Dead coming in the spring of 2014. For me personally, my love for our father burns like a wildfire uncontrollable through this forest of deadwood we consider life. However, it didnt begin that way; it was quite the contrary. The genesis of my sanctification was a faint ember, a small spark, a mere glimmer of understanding into the depths of His grace and mercy. It wasnt until a breath of wind from our creator engaged the ember giving it the life it needed to ignite into the blaze that lights my way today. That breath came in the form of Apologetics. In college, while at Focus on the Family Institute in Colorado Springs, I had a very devout Christian World View Professor Doc Leland ask the class a question. He posed the question how do you know God exist? He asked the question, then opened the floor for answers from the class. Students began giving answers to his question, really good answers. After each explanation from a student Doc Leland played the part of devils advocate/atheist and debunked each answer; successfully I might add. Now Doc Leland is a renown Christian Apologist so therefore he is well versed in atheist debating tactics. He used those tactics to engage our hearts and minds in questioning the existence of God for the entire class period. He dismissed class without ever giving us an answer to the question do you believe, that what you believe, is really real; he just left it hanging.....At this time in my life, I had walked the aisle, prayed the prayer and been submerged in the water but it wasnt until that particular class period that I realized just how lost I was. I sat on the couch in my apartment for hours staring at the wall questioning EVERYTHING I thought was real and true. It was then and only then that I began to pursue the heart of God and not just the rituals and ideology of Christianity. We spent the remainder of the semester learning Christian Apologetics. I believe beyond a shadow of a doubt God ordained that experience to stir my soul to redemption and understanding.... I dont know if Kevin Sorbo is a Christian or not, but for me, personally, I could play the part of atheist in hopes it would lead others to the heart of God. After all, if Doc hadnt, I dont know where I would be.
