Gods Redhead is about a Marist Catholic priest named Father Joseph - TopicsExpress

Gods Redhead is about a Marist Catholic priest named Father Joseph Deihl (known to Samoans as Patele Tili) who spent 28 years in Samoa from 1920 to 1948. Heres an interesting excerpt from one of his letters about Apia. This was written on 3 February 1930. ...if there were an escutcheon for Apia and its environments, on that escutcheon should be written the words, Enter, Rumor. Take my own case for example: I have been reported shot during these last weeks, and this story has gone all over Samoa. Another rumor is that I have a case against the Governor, and a third is that I am about to be deported. I dont think there is any other town in the world where there is so much talk about things which turn out in the end to be sheer rumor. 84 years on, this exact same letter would still be true about Apia if written today. Enter, Rumor.
