Gods Word: Romans 2:5-10 But after your hardness and impenitent heart treasure up to yourself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; Who will render to every man according to his deeds: To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life: But to them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, Tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man that does evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; But GLORY, HONOR, AND PEACE, TO EVERY MAN THAT WORKS GOOD, to the Jew first, and also of the Gentile: Man: Ok, If I do good I can have eternal life. Well I think I am pretty good. Gods Word: Romans 3:10-12 As it is written, There is NONE RIGHTEOUS, NO, NOT ONE: There is none that understands, there is none that seeks after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there IS NONE THAT DOES GOOD, NO, NOT ONE. Man: Awe crap! Gods Word: Romans 3:20-24 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD WHICH IS BY FAITH OF JESUS CHRIST to all and on all them that BELIEVE: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being JUSTIFIED FREELY BY HIS GRACE THROUGH THE REDEMPTION THAT IS IN CHRIST JESUS: Man: That is GOOD NEWS! Note: I read through Christian forums often and you would be surprised at how many people take verses such as Romans 2:5-10 out of context and say that the plan of salvation includes works. But with further reading you can see that Paul was explaining if you lived good ( in Gods standards PERFECT righteousness) you could have eternal life that way. But there is none who are good. Mathew 10:18 And Jesus said to him, Why call you me good? there is NONE GOOD BUT ONE, THAT IS, GOD.
