Good Afternoon All.......A few clouds about this morning as the sun rose but as the day moved along, so did the clouds, turning into a gorgeous day. Much the same for tomorrow but hopefully a wee bit cooler overnight with a low of 16C forecast in Townsville.... Currently its 24.5C with the humidity at 64%. Below is your forecast for tomorrow........................................... ______________________________________________________ This is the Official Forecast for Thursday 11th of September 2014 for Gladstone to Cooktown and west to Mt Isa. ______________________________________________________ Weather Situation A surface trough will contract off the southeast coast during the evening but will remain slow moving over the northern interior during Thursday. A high will develop in the Great Australian Bight during Thursday and will extend a ridge into western Queensland. The high will then move slowly eastwards on Friday and into the Tasman Sea on Saturday, extending a ridge along the east coast of Queensland. An upper trough will move into western Queensland on Friday, increasing instability over inland parts of the state into the weekend. Forecast for the rest of Wednesday Fine and mostly clear across most of the state with only isolated showers about Fraser Island. Light to moderate mostly south to southwest winds over the interior of the state. Moderate to fresh northerly winds about the southern coast ahead of west to southwest wind change this evening. Light to moderate southeast to northeast winds elsewhere on the east coast. Thursday 11 September Fine and mostly sunny across the state. Light to moderate southwest to southeast winds over the interior. Light to moderate southeast to northeast winds about the east coast. Fire Danger - Very High in inland parts of the North Tropical Coast and Hebert and Lower Burdekin districts and parts of the Central Highlands, Capricornia and Wide Bay districts. Friday 12 September Fine and sunny across most of the state. The high will move across southeastern Australia, maintaining the ridge and onshore flow to eastern Queensland. An upper trough will push into the west of the state with an associated surface trough sharpening across the central interior. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms are expected about parts of the Central West with isolated showers possible about the central coast. Saturday 13 September The upper trough will move east over central Queensland during the day. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected to the east of the trough in an increasingly unstable air mass, especially in the central interior. Isolated showers along the east coast. Fine and mostly sunny in the west of the state. Sunday 14 September The upper trough will move off the east coast early on Sunday whilst a weak ridge will persist along the east coast. Fine and sunny conditions for most of the state with only isolated showers about the east coast. ______________________________________________________ Forecast for the North Tropical Coast and Tablelands - Mostly sunny.
