Good Afternoon Folks........ A little shower activity around today, mainly north of the city and the rest of Townsville have just experienced grey clouds and a lovely coolness this afternoon. Chances of isolated showers again tomorrow mainly near the coast. Currently its 24.7C and the humidity is sitting around 68%. Below is your forecast for tomorrow. ____________________________________________________ This is the Official Forecast for Wednesday 28th of May 2014 for Gladstone to Cooktown and west to Mt Isa. ____________________________________________________ Weather Situation A high in the Tasman Sea will strengthen as it shifts slowly east during the remainder of today and Wednesday. A new high will enter the Tasman Sea on Friday, extending a firm ridge along the east Queensland coast. A trough and an associated south to southeasterly wind change are expected to move north through southern Queensland waters during Thursday. Another trough will most likely enter western Queensland on Saturday. Forecast for the rest of Tuesday Isolated showers about the tropical east coast. Mostly fine over remaining eastern districts with just the chance of isolated light showers. Fine and mostly clear elsewhere. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds central and northern districts, fresh at times near the north tropical coast. Moderate to fresh northeast to northwest winds elsewhere, shifting west to southwest over the far southwest during the day. Wednesday 28 May Isolated to scattered showers about the exposed east coast and islands, with possible isolated light showers extending into nearby inland parts. Isolated showers near the southern Gulf of Carpentaria coast, also developing through the southeastern interior during the afternoon. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. A warm day through southern and western districts with light to moderate northwest to northeasterly winds, tending southerly in the far southwest. Light to moderate east to southeast winds elsewhere, fresh and gusty near the east tropical coast. Thursday 29 May A new high is likely to shift east over the southeast of the continent, maintaining a ridge through northern Queensland. Isolated showers are therefore expected through the eastern tropics in the onshore wind flow. A weak trough and an an associated southerly wind change are expected to shift north through southern waters during the day and may lead to isolated showers near the southern coast and border ranges. Fine and mostly conditions will occur through the remainder of the state, with maximum temperatures several degrees above the average over the west and southern interior. Friday 30 May The new high should strengthen as it shifts east into the southern Tasman Sea, extending a firm ridge along the east Queensland coast. Isolated to scattered showers are expected about the exposed east coast in the strengthening onshore wind flow, with some shower activity extending into the eastern interior during the day. Fine and mostly sunny conditions will occur through western Queensland and the southern interior, with maximum temperatures remaining several degrees above the average. Saturday 31 May The high will remain slow moving in the Tasman Sea but should weaken a little. Moist onshore winds will produce isolated showers over eastern districts, more scattered about the exposed east coast. A new trough will enter western Queensland, producing isolated showers south and west of Longreach, with possible isolated thunderstorms near the southern interior border.
