Good Morning After Thanksgiving! We hope that all of you had - TopicsExpress

Good Morning After Thanksgiving! We hope that all of you had an absolutely amazingly wonderful day-filled with love, laughter and great food! We are now, back in the kitchen, making pies, muffins, rolls, and other goodies for our own Thanksgiving dinner, later on this day-or perhaps, tomorrow, depending upon how one views the early morning hours! We spent today sleeping and then doing for others, and now we are going to snug down and enjoy Friday as the beginning of our Thanksgiving. We are, in case we havent said- so very thankful for each and everyone of you! While it is distressing that the reasons that bring us together can be painful health issues, I am so very glad that we live in a day and time when there are more answers to these medical problems and when a bakery like Sweet Enchantments Bakery is able to stand tall and proudly offer the best of the best of gluten free, casein free, corn, rice, soy, oats, bean, sesame..oh-all sorts of free, organic baked treats to those whose bodies march to the beat of a gluten free and casein free-sometimes vegan- drum. I remember when we were first starting down this road with my beloved hubby and we would ask if there were gluten free and casein free options, at bakeries, grocery stores, restaurants, and would hear reactions from We DO have a gluten free option-we dont serve the bun to Whats gluten? Whats Casein? I dont know- Ive never heard of it. To my personal favorite Gluten free AND casein free rolls? Thats impossible! My husband was told Youll just have to get used to not having stuff taste the same, the options out there are...okay, but they cant taste the same. You are setting yourself up to be unhappy, if that is what you are expecting. Really. Yeah. Ok. Impossible? Tell me something is impossible ONLY if you really want me to do it because, my Dears and Darlings, nothing is impossible. Maybe difficult...perhaps a tad bit trying...but nothing is impossible. Sigh, I stand partially corrected. My ever present and always opinionated 8 year old has informed me that life on Mars is ....impossible. HUMAN LIFE, Mommy- not some nanospec teeny thing that i dont understand anyway, Mom-Life like you and me! and to that, my little attorney in the making, I say It is impossible with what we know now. It is impossible when we are attacking it from inside our comfy, current box of knowledge and experience...but..is it impossible? I say not- we just havent hit upon the answers yet..but we will, we will. And that is how we attack life here, in the bakery. Nothing is impossible, we just havent found the answer... yet... It is my dearest hope that someday, Sweet Enchantments Bakery will not be in existence as a gluten free, casein free allergy friendly bakery. Because that would mean that no one would need us. That these health issues would be gone. That everyone would be pain-free and happily munching upon breads and cookies, picked up at a grocery store. However, that is not the case....yet. And until that time- we will be here, baking up all the traditionally tasting, twisted, gfcf allergy friendly yummies that you have so graciously welcomed into your lives and onto your tables! Thankfully, doctors and others have begun to look at the issues that make tender tummies rebel and bodies balk when some of these substances are eaten-but answers other than avoidance and medicine? Those have not been forthcoming...yet... remember-nothing is impossible and there IS an answer. We just havent stumbled upon the correct path, as of yet. So, this Thanksgiving brings us a host of things for which we give thanks- a new business that is helping others AND turning what was a hugely sad, negative in our lives into a hugely positive...positive, a community that has welcomed us, doctors who continue to work on finding answers, our lovely friends who have supported us as we struggled with health issues, business ignorance and baking bliss, family who has stood by us and loved us (pink ponies and glitter and all!), even family who hasnt quite yet gotten the hang of loving us in a way that is healthy for us- we give thanks for them, as well. And you. Our clients. Thank you for your support, your input and ideas, your honest opinions of test products...for sharing your lives with us. Now- on to the baking and soon- the eating!! Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
